KOVAR MISSION

Every person has dignity.

Every life deserves belonging.

Love becomes real when we act.

A place to call home. The chance to learn a skill. The joy of taking part. The reassurance of being welcomed.

These are hopes we share. For people with intellectual disabilities, the right support can help make them part of everyday life. For families, that support can bring comfort today and hope for the years ahead.

Founded in 1971, KOVAR is a Virginia Knights of Columbus charity supporting people with intellectual disabilities. For St. Louis Martin Council, this mission is a practical expression of our belief that every person is created in the image of God.

What your support makes possible

KOVAR provides financial assistance to nonprofit organizations serving people with intellectual disabilities across Virginia. Rooted in Catholic faith, its work reaches people regardless of creed, race, or ethnic background.

A place to belong

Support for housing helps people live in homes suited to their needs.

Room to grow

Job training helps open opportunities to develop skills and participate in working life.

Shared experiences

Sports participation creates opportunities for activity, connection, and achievement.

Everyday support

Personal care services help meet individual needs with dignity.

Enduring Love: care for the years ahead

For parents and caregivers, a lasting concern is who will provide support when they can no longer do so themselves. KOVAR’s Enduring Love campaign helps address that concern by strengthening its revolving, interest-free loan fund for homes serving people with intellectual disabilities.

Help

Our council’s part—and yours

Through KOVAR collections and the generosity of our parish community, St. Louis Martin Council helps bring this mission to life. Your gift supports KOVAR’s work; your time helps our council share that mission with others.

Give through KOVAR’s official donation page, or contact us about upcoming collections and volunteer opportunities.

A prayer for our mission

Lord, help us recognize Your image in every person. Bless our neighbors with intellectual disabilities, their families, and all who care for them. Make us generous with our time, attentive to their hopes, and faithful in our service. Amen.
